Silja & Rando’s Destination Wedding in Ericeira Portugal

This day was more than just a celebration it was a reflection of the couple’s love, personality, surrounded with their closest friends and family. Set in the west coast of Portugal, this wedding beautifully blended romance, natural beauty, and heartfelt traditions. With golden sunlight filtering through the ruins, laughter echoing in the air, and the scent of fresh florals all around, it was a day of elegance and genuine emotion.

The Love Story

Silja and Rando came to Portugal to get married. Then they loved it so much they just… stayed. Not forever, but long enough to soak in the Ericeira life, and let their dog claim his own sunbathing spot. These two are the definition of fun and always up for a great party. Silja is the creative whirlwind, the one who comes up with wild ideas, and Rando is the calm, tech-savvy guy with the warmest smile, making sure her brilliant schemes don’t end with, “Okay… but where are our passports?”

  • A bride and groom stand close, smiling at each other with their hands intertwined against the backdrop of a textured stone wall, capturing a tender wedding moment.
  • Bride and groom standing together, holding hands and smiling in front of lush green foliage.
  • Bride and groom embracing in front of a vibrant circular bottle wall, sharing a joyful moment.
  • Groom playfully twirling the bride, her dress flowing beautifully as they dance outdoors.
  • Bride and groom engaging in a playful, romantic moment under lush green fig leaves during their wedding shoot.
  • Bride and groom sharing a joyful moment with their dog against a rustic stone wall on their wedding day.

the Perfect Venue

For a couple as vibrant as Silja and Rando, the venue had to match their energy. Casa Paço D’Ilhas, a quirky, colorful hideaway that’s part boutique hotel, part bohemian. It’s relaxed, it’s a little eccentric, and it has that “just go with the flow” kind of charm that fits them perfectly. The dinner setup? A long table under a trellis of grapevines, bathed in golden light, great food, in a summer night was the perfect set for these two and their closest people.

  • A long rustic reception table under a vine-covered pergola at Paço Dilhas, set with terracotta pots, wine bottles, and elegant tableware.
  • A scenic view of Paço Dilhas' white and blue rooftop under a bright sky with fluffy clouds.
  • A beautifully decorated wedding ceremony setup inside historic stone ruins at Paço Dilhas, with flowing white drapery and rustic wooden benches.
  • A vibrant blue and red mosaic wall at Paço Dilhas, with a spiral design and colorful tile flooring.
  • A detailed close-up of lush green fig tree leaves, with natural textures and imperfections.
  • Close-up of a unique glass bottle wall at Paço Dilhas, showcasing an artistic mosaic of colorful glass embedded in plaster.

The CEREMONY Plan

The ceremony took place in the ruins of a 14th-century palace, one of the corners of this  venue. Because if you’re going to say “I do,” why not do it with some flair? Their dog had the prestigious role of ring bearer and absolutely nailed it (if “nailed it” means trotting down the aisle like he owned the place). The ceremony itself was short, sweet, with happy tears and no unnecessary extras. Just love, good vibes and let´s get this party started!

  • A joyful bride holding a bouquet of pastel roses and greenery, smiling at her groom during their wedding ceremony.
  • A newlywed couple shares their first kiss in a rustic outdoor wedding ceremony, surrounded by friends and family.
  • A delicate wedding floral arrangement featuring blush roses, pampas grass, and eucalyptus leaves.
  • A newlywed couple walks hand in hand down the aisle as guests throw flower petals in celebration at an outdoor wedding in historic ruins.
  • Close-up of a bride placing the wedding ring on the groom’s finger during an outdoor ceremony, with a romantic and intimate atmosphere.
  • Aerial view of a wedding ceremony taking place in an ancient stone ruin with open skies and a scenic countryside in the background, creating a rustic and elegant setting.

The Attire

Silja and Rando kept things stylish but comfortable, proving that looking good doesn’t have to mean suffering in stiff fabrics. Silja, being the creative force she is, looked effortlessly cool, while Rando balanced her energy with his low-key but still stylish look. Their guests followed suit, nothing too formal, just an easy, chic summer style that felt right at home with the relaxed energy of the day.

  • Bride playfully holds her wedding dress in front of her face, making a peace sign with her hand, in a rustic wooden room.
  • Best man pins a boutonniere onto the groom’s lapel as they prepare for the wedding ceremony.
  • Bride smiles while standing in front of lush green foliage, holding her pastel-colored wedding bouquet.
  • The groom crouches to pick up his fallen boutonniere as the bride watches with a smile.
  • Bride and groom hold hands in front of a vibrant blue house, framed by tropical greenery.
  • Bridesmaid helps bride adjust her veil before the ceremony.
  • Groom smiling in front of lush fig tree leaves.
  • Black and white photo of the bride twirling in her wedding dress.

Capturing the Moments

From the moment the cocktails started flowing, you knew this was going to be a party. Kids were splashing around in the pool, guests were sun-soaked and hugging like long-lost friends, and the whole place just radiated happiness. Then came dinner under the stars, the kind of warm summer night where no one checks the time because they don’t want it to end.
And then the dance floor. This wasn’t just any dance floor; this was legendary. Because just when Silja thought the party couldn’t get any better, her friends pulled off a full-blown secret flash mob. Not only did she love it, but she somehow ended up dancing on their shoulders like a rockstar. Rando, ever the supportive husband, cheered her on, probably wondering if this was part of the plan or just a very Silja thing to happen. Thank you guys! It was an honour to be part  of and document your day!!
