We´ve said it before, but we´ll say it again… we love elopements. And when couples chose to elope in some of the most incredible landscapes then we love them even more! Jan and Leif had never been to the Douro before but they chose their wedding venue from a photo online… and they knew right away that that was where they needed to exchange their vows. So in a leap of faith they planned everything around that one photo… and it worked out perfectly. We love the Douro region, the light and the scenery is unlike anywhere else in the world… steep shale slopes plunging down to the Douro river below, line upon line of vineyard terraces reaching up into the sky… a seemingly impossible feat of medieval landscaping, all painstakingly built by hand and unchanged for centuries. We´ve been here a handful of times over the last 5 years but it never fails to take our breath away… and yet it´s surprising that not many people who visit Portugal ever get to see this region. Jan and Leif, thank you for taking a leap of faith and trying something different… it was absolutely worth it and we wish you much love and happiness for your future adventures together.
Já o dissemos antes, mas dizemos outra vez… adoramos “elopements”. E quando casais decidem casar só os dois nas paisagens mais incríveis, então adoramos ainda mais! A Jan e o Leif nunca estiveram no Douro antes, e escolheram o local para se casar através de uma foto que viram online… e souberam nesse momento que era aí que queriam trocar os seus votos. Decidiram saltar para o desconhecido e planearam tudo em volta desta foto… e resultou na perfeição. Adoramos a região do Douro, a luz e o cenário são únicos no mundo… as encostas escarpadas a mergulhar no rio Douro em baixo dirigem o nosso olhar para a linha de terraços de vinha mesmo até lá acima ao céu… parece impossível acreditar que há séculos atrás era possível moldar a paisagem desta maneira há mão sem o auxílio de máquinas. Já aqui estivemos uma meia dúzia de vezes nos últimos 5 anos, mas ficamos sempre sem respiração sempre que aqui vimos… e no entanto é uma surpresa que muita gente que visita Portugal nunca chega a conhecer esta região. Jan e Leif, muito obrigado por terem dado este salto de confiança e arriscarem em algo diferente… valeu mesmo a pena, desejamos muito amor e felicidade para as vossas aventuras futuras juntos.
