João is from Portugal and Lucia is from Romania… they met in Brussels and it was love at first sight, and since then they have followed each other around the world (their work keeps them on the road). When we first skyped with them they were living in Kinshasa, in the DRC and planning 2 weddings in Europe, one in Portugal and another in Romania… which makes these guys pretty much the definition of an international couple. They are getting married tomorrow and we wanted to share their e-session photos with them before the wedding day… these two share a very special something, a playfulness, and it´s quite clear that they´re completely mad about one another… it makes them a joy to work with and we can´t wait to see them again soon! Annie is a southern belle from Louisiana and Jason is an East Coast boy with his roots in the Azores… neither of them had been to mainland Portugal before but it seemed the perfect spot for the two of them to run away to and elope. We met up with them a few days before their wedding to photograph this session and Annie had mentioned beforehand that both she and Jason loved boating and spent as much time on the water as they could, so it made perfect sense to shoot their engagement session by the water. We emailed so much, back and forth, that by the time we met up with them it felt like we´d known each other for ages and we had the best afternoon wandering the streets of Óbidos, followed by a visit to the lagoon and then, while sharing a seafood dinner after the shoot, Annie handed a prawn head to Jason and said “you gotta suck the brains out, thats the best bit!”… we knew right then that we were going to get along just fine. Their wedding was amazing, such a great way to start the season… but you will have to wait a little bit longer for that, to keep you going until then, these are some of our favourites from their e-session. Robyn and Nicky have been coming Ericeira for surfing holidays since forever… they have an apartment just around the corner from ours and visit these famous Portuguese waves as often as they possibly can, escaping the rainy Irish weather. So of course when it came time to plan their wedding, this part of the world was a pretty obvious choice. We spent a lovely (and surprisingly sunny!) afternoon with them on the beach a little while ago and are excited to work with them again soon… theirs will be one of our first weddings of 2013 and we are itching to get back into action! It’s no secret that we love the Alentejo… the wide open spaces, the rolling hills and lone trees on the horizon… and the light, I could go on and on about the light, but suffice to say that the light in this part of the country is an amazing thing. But the thing is, very few people outside of Portugal know anything about this unique region of Southern Europe. If I were to say “Tuscany” or “Provence” you would all know immediately what I was talking about… and then you would all “ooh” and “aah” and say how amaaazing those places are, how the food is just to die for, how the landscape is the most beautiful you’ve ever seen. And of course, you would be right on all counts, because those are truly gorgeous parts of the world. But everything that those places have… the food, the wine, the culture, the architecture, the cute little old ladies in traditional clothing… the light, again! The light! All those things that Tuscany and Provence are famous for, the Alentejo has too… except for the high prices… and the hordes of tourists. Continue reading →

Alex is from Angola, Paul is from the UK and these two lovebirds have chosen Lisbon as the location of their wedding… which promises to be a very international affair, just the way we like it! They are getting married this weekend and took some precious time out of their schedule to meet up with us in the city, to have a chat about their wedding plans, get to know each other a bit and photograph this session. We are so glad that they did, because we had a great time with you guys, and can’t wait to see you again on Saturday! Continue reading →
Inês & Simon live in Switzerland and came to Portugal (where Inês is from) for their wedding for the same reasons that many other couples do… beautiful locations, great food… sunshine and hot summers. But they took their destination wedding a step further, and taking advantage of the fantastic weather they did everything outdoors… ceremony, dinner and dancing… and it was, in a word: Amazing. It might require a bit of faith and lots of finger-crossing that the weather co-operates, but if it does (and it did!) the results are well worth the extra effort and planning. Their ceremony took place in the late afternoon under the trees at the Sheraton Pine Cliffs hotel in the Algarve and was followed by dinner under the stars and dancing at the beach-bar right on the water. It was a beautiful wedding and we feel lucky to have been a part of it all… thank you Inês and Simon, for sharing your day with us. Continue reading →
