João is from Portugal and Lucia is from Romania… they met in Brussels and it was love at first sight, and since then they have followed each other around the world (their work keeps them on the road). When we first skyped with them they were living in Kinshasa, in the DRC and planning 2 weddings in Europe, one in Portugal and another in Romania… which makes these guys pretty much the definition of an international couple. They are getting married tomorrow and we wanted to share their e-session photos with them before the wedding day… these two share a very special something, a playfulness, and it´s quite clear that they´re completely mad about one another… it makes them a joy to work with and we can´t wait to see them again soon!

O João é Português e a Lucia Romena, conheceram-se em Bruxelas e foi amor á primeira vista… desde aí têm se seguido um ao outro pelo mundo fora, uma vez que o trabalho mantem-os em viagem constantemente. Quando nos encontrámos pela primeira vez no skype estavam a viver em Kinshasa no Congo e a planear dois casamentos na Europa, um em Portugal e outro na Roménia… o que faz destes dois a perfeita definição de um casal internacional. Casam-se amanhã e queriamos partilhar as fotos deste final de tarde de ontem com eles antes do grande dia… há qualquer coisa de especial entre eles, as brincadeiras a troca de carinhos, que não deixam dúvidas do quanto apaixonados estão um pelo outro… foi um prazer trabalhar com eles e mal podemos esperar por amanhã para a grande festa!

Annie and Jason… where do I even begin? Their wedding was our first one of 2013 and was certainly a day we will never forget. They first contacted us last year to see if we were available for their wedding, they explained that it was just going to be the 2 of them, an elopement of sorts, and as we chatted about their plans for the day we knew immediately that this was going to be a wedding unlike any we´d photographed before. Neither of them had been to mainland Portugal before but had been following our blog for a while and fell in love with the country through our eyes… which is a pretty big compliment in itself, but the cherry-on-top was when they asked us to pick the location of their ceremony, as they trusted our vision and knew we would find the best spot. No pressure!! You guys, this doesn´t happen very often… that the photographers get to pick the ceremony location, and it was an opportunity we weren´t going to waste! Months of location scouting ensued, to the point that people though we´d moved to Lisbon due to our Instagram feeds being full of scenic cityscapes but finally it was in the magical town of Sintra that we found the perfect place… the chapel ruins in the gardens of the Monserrate Palace. Annie and Jason, thank you so much for including us in this adventure, we´re so happy you chose to work with us and eternally grateful for your faith in our abilities, both as photographers as well as event co-ordinators! Much love and happiness to you both and we truly hope we have the chance to meet up again someday. xxx

A Annie e o Jason… por onde começar? O casamento deles foi o primeiro de 2013 e um dia que não iremos esquecer concerteza. Quando nos contactaram o ano passado para saber da nossa disponibilidade, a Annie e o Jason explicaram-nos que iriam ser só eles os dois, numa cerimónia íntima e cheia de significado, e após uns minutos a conversar mais em detalhe sobre os seus planos percebemos que iria ser um casamento como nunca tinhamos fotografado antes. Nenhum tinha estado no continente de Portugal antes, e após seguirem  o nosso blog por algum tempo, apaixonaram-se pelo nosso país através dos nossos olhos… o que para começar é um grande elogio para nós, mas a cereja no topo do bolo foi quando nos pediram para escolher o local para a cerimónia pois confiavam na nossa visão e sabiam que encontrariamos o melhor local. Sem pressões!! Amigos… isto não acontece todos os dias… os fotógrafos a escolher o local da cerimónia iria ser uma oportunidade que não iriamos desperdiçar! Meses á procura do local ideal, ao ponto de alguns amigos pensarem que nos haviamos mudado para Lisboa ao verem os nossos feeds no Instagram cheios de paisagens da cidade, e finalmente encontrámos o local perfeito na mágica vila de Sintra, nas ruínas da capela do palácio de Monserrate. Annie e Jason, muito obrigado por nos incluirem na vossa aventura, ficámos tão contentes por nos terem escolhido para trabalhar convosco e agradecidos por acreditarem nas nossas capacidades como fotógrafos e como coordenadores de eventos! Desejamos muito amor e felicidade para vocês e seria óptimo que as nossas vidas se voltassem a cruzar muitas e mais vezes.

A Catarina e o Rui casam-se este fim de semana na Comporta mesmo á beira mar (na Ilha do Arroz, um dos nossos locais favoritos, yeah!) e queriamos partilhar as fotos da e-session com eles antes do grande dia. Passámos juntos uma bonita tarde a caminhar nas ruas de Sintra e mal podemos esperar para os fotografar novamente no fim de semana, pelo que ouvimos o casamento vai ser maravilhoso e estamos a contar os dias para que chegue… até já!!!

Catarina & Rui are getting married this weekend on the beach in Comporta (at Ilha do Arroz, one of our favourite venues, yeah!) and we wanted to share their e-session photos with them before the big day. We spent a sunny afternoon wandering the streets of Sintra with these 2 lovebirds and can´t wait to see them again on the weekend, from what we´ve heard, their wedding is going to be gorgeous… see you guys soon!

Annie is a southern belle from Louisiana and Jason is an East Coast boy with his roots in the Azores… neither of them had been to mainland Portugal before but it seemed the perfect spot for the two of them to run away to and elope. We met up with them a few days before their wedding to photograph this session and Annie had mentioned beforehand that both she and Jason loved boating and spent as much time on the water as they could, so it made perfect sense to shoot their engagement session by the water. We emailed so much, back and forth, that by the time we met up with them it felt like we´d known each other for ages and we had the best afternoon wandering the streets of Óbidos, followed by a visit to the lagoon and then, while sharing a seafood dinner after the shoot, Annie handed a prawn head to Jason and said “you gotta suck the brains out, thats the best bit!”… we knew right then that we were going to get along just fine. Their wedding was amazing, such a great way to start the season… but you will have to wait a little bit longer for that, to keep you going until then, these are some of our favourites from their e-session.

A Annie é uma dama do sul, do Louisiana mais especificamente e o Jason um rapaz da costa leste americana com raíses nos Açores… nenhum deles esteve no continente de Portugal antes, mas pareceu-lhes ser o local perfeito para “fugirem” para se casar. Encontrámo-nos uns dias antes do casamento para fotografar esta sessão, e uma vez que a Annie mencionou antes que ambos adoravam andar de barco e passar o máximo de tempo livre possível junto á água, fez todo o sentido fazer a e- session deles neste local mágico. Como trocámos tantos emails antes, quando nos encontrámos foi como se nos conhecêssemos há imenso tempo e passámos uma tarde super divertida a caminhar pelas ruelas de Óbidos, junto á lagoa e acabámos numa mariscada á portuguesa já na nossa Ericeira. Durante o jantar, a Annie passa uma cabeça de camarão ao Jason e diz: “tens que chuchar bem os miolos do camarão, é a melhor parte!”. Se poucas dúvidas haviam, soubemos nesse preciso momento que nos iriamos entender na perfeição. O casamento deles foi lindíssimo, não podiamos ter começado este ano de melhor maneira… mas vão ter de esperar mais um bocadinho para verem as fotografias. Miriam & Thierry are from Switzerland and are coming out to get married in Lisbon later this year, together with the newest addition to their family (and the cutest 3 month old baby ever!) We met up with them a few weeks ago while they were in Portugal to finalise their wedding details and we took advantage of a sunny afternoon in downtown Lisbon to capture a few photos of this gorgeous little family. They have a few surprises up their sleeves and we have a sneaky suspicion that their destination wedding is going to be unlike any other… we can’t wait!

A Miriam e o Thierry são da Suiça e vêm casar a Lisboa mais para o verão, juntos com o novo membro da familia (e o bébé de 3 meses mais querido). Encontrámo-nos todos há umas semanas atrás enquanto estiveram em Portugal para finalizar os últimos pormenores do casamento e aproveitámos um final de tarde soalheiro em Lisboa para tirar umas fotos desta família bonita. Eles têm algumas surpresas reservadas para o grande dia, pelo que suspeitamos que vai ser um daqueles casamentos únicos, bem diferente das nossas experiências anteriores… mal podemos esperar.

Harriet and Hugo are another loved-up couple getting married in our part of the world… they live and work in London town but since Hugo´s family is all here in Lisbon, they decided to head south to Portugal for their wedding, which will be at the Quinta de Sant´Ana later this summer. They came down to visit a few weeks ago and managed (unfortunately) to catch the last of the rainy weather here on the coast, but being the brave and adventurous souls that they are (a trademark of all our couples!) they bundled up warmly and we hit the streets of Ericeira for a windy photo session. A Harriet e o Hugo são outro casal maravilha que se vai casar na nossa parte do mundo… eles vivem e trabalham em Londres mas como a familia do Hugo vive em Portugal, decidiram vir para sul para se casarem na Quinta de Sant´Ana no verão. Há umas semanas atrás vieram de visita e infelizmente tivemos a pontaria de apanhar as últimos pingos de tempo chuvoso aqui na costa, mas sendo eles as almas audazes e corajosas que são, (imagem de marca de todos os nossos casais!) abraçaram-se bem apertadinhos e fizémo-nos ás ruas da Ericeira para uma sessão com muito vento. Obrigado amigos, por uma tarde divertida, vêmo-nos novamente muito em breve para o grande dia! xx

A Robyn e o Nicky são bons amigos da nossa Ericeira e vêm surfar para cá nas férias desde sempre… têm uma casa mesmo ao virar da esquina de onde vivemos e visitam  estas famosas ondas portuguesas o mais assiduamente possivel, enquanto escapam ao chuvoso clima irlandês. Foi óbvia a escolha então, quando tiveram que decidir o local do casamento deles, Portugal! Passámos uma tarde muito bonita ( com sol finalmente!! ) com eles na praia há uns dias atrás e estamos super entusiasmados para trabalhar com eles novamente… o casamento será um dos primeiros de 2013 e estamos cheios de comichão para voltar á acção!

Pois, como é normal durante o inverno, as coisas abrandam um pouco aqui no blog… as nossas desculpas por vos termos abandonado nestes últimos meses, mas as coisas estão quase a começar novamente! Temos um monte de e-sessions agendadas e a época de casamentos de 2013 está prestes a arrancar. Para vos entreter até lá… mostramos um bocadinho do que temos andado a fazer ultimamente. We had lots of delicious lunches and dinners and “photo missions” with fabulous wedding industry peeps… who ever decided that wedding photographers couldn’t be friends clearly doesn’t live on the same planet as we do!

Tivémos vários almoços e jantares e “missões fotográficas” com os nossos fantásticos colegas da indústria de casamentos… quem disse um dia que os fotógrafos de casamento não podiam ser amigos, claramente não vive no mesmo planeta que o nosso!

And lots of dog-walks in our windy, rainy Ericeira… we can’t wait for this winter to be over!

E imensos passeios com o nosso cãozinho na nossa chuvosa e ventosa Ericeira… mal podemos esperar para que este inverno se vá embora!!

A little while back we spent some time in the Alentejo with good friends of ours… Matt and Lena are photographers and we met them while we were all working together on cruise-ships. We left the ships about 3 years ago and moved to Portugal and they have now done the same… they are based in the western Algarve and have just launched the new business, Matt & Lena Photography.  Shortly after they arrived in Portugal they ran off to Gibraltar for a few days, where Matt (finally!) popped the question… so while we were road-tripping together several weeks later, we snapped a few impromptu photos of them to make it official… a mini engagement session in the rain. (the rain that literally didn’t stop once the whole week!)

Matt and Lena also wrote about the holiday we spent together, you can read their version on their blog. And if you’re planning a destination wedding in the Algarve then definitely get in touch with them… these 2 are great photographers and the most wonderful people, we’re so happy to have them living here in Portugal, even if they are a bit far away.

So we’re off to Rome at the end of the month, just for a few days… a change of scenery and something to satisfy the travel bug before we get into another season of weddings. We’re pretty excited and since we’ve both been there before we’re aiming to do a bit more “off the beaten track” kind of Rome things… explore the surrounding countryside a bit too, maybe… if anyone has any suggestions for things to do (or not do!) please let us know, all advice is welcome! Also, I don’t know how many Italian people follow our blog, but if anyone is keen to schedule a photo-session, please get in touch!

Estamos de partida para Roma no final do mês, só por uns dias… uma mudança de cenário e um gostinho para satisfazer o nosso bichinho viajante antes de começarmos mais uma época de casamentos. Estamos super entusiasmados pois mesmo que já tenhamos estado nesta cidade, desta vez apontamos mais para o roteiro… fora dos roteiros de Roma… explorar a zona mais de campo fora do centro da cidade, talvez… se algum de vocês tem alguma sugestão do que fazer (ou não fazer!) por favor digam-nos, todos os conselhos são bem vindos! Já agora, não sei quantos amigos italianos seguem o nosso blog, mas se algum de vocês quer se aventurar numa sessão fotográfica, é só nos contactar!
