Lucia & João | Destination wedding in Portugal

destination wedding lisbon portugal

Lucia, João and their friends & family came from all over the world to our little corner of Portugal to celebrate their wedding, and we´re definitely glad they did because we absolutely loved working with these 2 lovebirds. These guys have a special something, like a secret language, a lightness of spirit… it´s difficult to define or describe in words… but it makes them a joy to photograph and it´s also really clear that they´re crazy about each other. We adored this wedding, the laid-back atmosphere, the beautiful setting… and especially Lucia´s family who kept trying to ply us with their special brand of Romanian vodka throughout the cocktail party… I had the excuse of being on antibiotics but Luis didn´t get away so lightly!! Thank you João and Lucia, for being the amazing people you are and for making us a part of your wedding day… we wish you all the best for your future travels and hope to see you again in Portugal sometime. xxx

Catarina & Rui

beach wedding comporta portugal

Robyn & Nicky | Destination wedding in Portugal

NickyRobyn-32Robyn and Nicky are another couple who have fallen in love with the sun and the sea of this beautiful country and spend as much free time here as they can. They came out from Ireland with family and friends to celebrate their wedding in true Irish style… with lots of love and happiness, laughter and dancing. And even though we´re not religious, we couldn´t help but be moved by Father Joe´s sermon during the ceremony… he spoke of God being all around us, in the waves of the ocean and in the beauty of nature that surrounds us, and that the Catholic church too often makes the mistake of confining God within the walls of the church… when in fact he is everywhere. It was, without a doubt, the most touching religious ceremony we have ever witnessed and can´t help but feel that Robyn and Nicky have a very special friend in Father Joe. Thank you both for including us in this wonderful day, we wish you much happiness in your future adventures and hope to see you again soon in Ericeira!  Continue reading

Annie & Jason | Destination wedding in Portugal

Destination wedding portugal, destination wedding europe

Annie and Jason… where do I even begin? Their wedding was our first one of 2013 and was certainly a day we will never forget. They first contacted us last year to see if we were available for their wedding, they explained that it was just going to be the 2 of them, an elopement of sorts, and as we chatted about their plans for the day we knew immediately that this was going to be a wedding unlike any we´d photographed before. Neither of them had been to mainland Portugal before but had been following our blog for a while and fell in love with the country through our eyes… which is a pretty big compliment in itself, but the cherry-on-top was when they asked us to pick the location of their ceremony, as they trusted our vision and knew we would find the best spot. No pressure!! You guys, this doesn´t happen very often… that the photographers get to pick the ceremony location, and it was an opportunity we weren´t going to waste! Months of location scouting ensued, to the point that people though we´d moved to Lisbon due to our Instagram feeds being full of scenic cityscapes but finally it was in the magical town of Sintra that we found the perfect place… the chapel ruins in the gardens of the Monserrate Palace. Regina & Mikkel | Destination wedding in Portugal

Regina and Mikkel are another one of those couples… you know the ones I mean, the kind of couple who you just click with, who really gets you, who are totally on the same wavelength. The kind of couple whose wedding doesn’t even really feel like work because everyone is just so lovely and easy-going… a small wedding with friends and family from all over the world, an outdoor ceremony in the late afternoon, the ocean as the backdrop… just perfect! These two have had an ongoing love affair with Portugal for many years now and it was their great love for “pork and cheese” (another thing we have in common!) that brought them back again for a destination wedding in Estoril, just outside of Lisbon. A wedding in November always comes with the possibility of rain, but we were lucky… this was our last wedding for 2012 and we undoubtably finished on a high note… thank you Regina and Mikkel for sharing your day with us, for making us feel like part of the family. We had a fantastic time with you guys and hope to see you here again many times in the future! Continue reading

Mariana & Ricardo
